The art - while adequete and at times great - isn't near my favorite in the series. While Metroid Prime continues to feel damn near flawless, a few things jump out at me even more about Dread. A great game, I'd probably have given a solid 9.īut, as great as Dread is - and boy is it - it's now evident to me that it's nowhere near the perfection of Metroid Prime. I loved the combat, and some of the bosses were way better than anything I had expected. What a fantastic game - with one of the best endings in a game I've ever played. here it was a couple years ago, and it lived up to the hype. A game that we all wanted for literally years and years - and I had just assumed would never exist.

Right on par with Mario 64 or OoT - arguably possibly even better, as they had the greater performance of the GCN to work with.Īnd so that takes me to Dread. But as great as it was, it just instilled MP's perfection even further - that they somehow made the transition beautiful. I went back and played Super Metroid back in the day - another sublime game - and damn perfect, too. I've beat it six or seven times, and I'm probably about 75% of the way through an any-% run on Switch. An incredible map with plenty to explore, secrets to find, enemies to shoot, and bosses to take down. If this game released for the very first time last week, I wouldn't have blinked an eye. and now, some 20 years later playing the Remaster, it hasn't aged a day. Game was insane at the time, and while it's not personally one of my all-time favorite games, I have to admit it's one of the most perfectly executed games I've ever had the chance to play. #METROID PRIME MOD#

It uses a custom version of the Dolphin Emulator to introduce the upgraded features, with the team behind it claiming that the endeavour is entirely legal since the mod doesn't include any Nintendo-created assets. The mod, called 'MPR Phaze 1', is available now but will require players to own a copy of either Metroid Prime on the Gamecube, or Metroid Prime Trilogy on the Wii. A new mod for Metroid Prime promises some serious upgrades to the 'vanilla' experience of the game, introducing 4K visuals, 60fps gameplay, and a host of new textures, assets, and lighting upgrades.
